What people use it for
Longevity. Epithalon is taken almost entirely by people interested in aging itself: telomeres, sleep rhythms, and lifespan.
The signal
The pineal gland's output, including melatonin, declines steeply with age. The idea behind epithalon is restoring pineal signaling in older bodies.
How it works
In lab work it activates telomerase, the enzyme that maintains the protective caps on chromosomes, and lengthens telomeres in cells [1].
What the research shows
This is the entry where you have to look at who did the studies. Human studies exist, including ones reporting better sleep and, in long follow-ups of elderly patients given pineal preparations, lower mortality [2, 3]. Nearly all of it comes from the Russian institute that invented the peptide, with little independent replication, and that concentration in one lab is the main reason the wider field hasn't adopted the findings.
What people get wrong
That the telomere story is settled. Telomerase activation in a dish is real; whether that translates to anything in a person taking epithalon has never been independently shown.
